The Grassroots Business Fund (GBF) facilitates economic empowerment and improved lives for lower-income populations, especially in lesser-developed countries and regions. GBF pursues this by working with impactful small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in low-income communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Our social impact tracking and monitoring metrics program is embedded in its investment and supervision processes. It monitors and estimates portfolio companies’ social impact on underserved communities, thus enabling companies to measure their social and environmental performance and assess the impact of their business model.
The program achieves this through: companies’ self-reporting; on-the-ground verifications and surveys; and comparisons of the estimated annualized economic benefits with the financing provided to each company
