I. INTRODUCTION
GBF is an impact investment organization that provides investment capital and business advisory services to high impact businesses in developing countries across the globe. GBF's goal is to drive economic development and improve local standards of living.
II. SCOPE OF WORK
GBF is currently seeking an Investment Analyst to be based permanently in Delhi, India. The Investment Analyst will support the investment team in all aspects of GBF Operations. In addition, the Investment Analyst will be part of GBF's global investment team and will participate in and contribute to global investment and technical assistance initiatives and knowledge sharing.
The main tasks and responsibilities of the analyst will be as follows:
- Preparing financial models to develop projections of Company performance, and test them in different scenarios;
- Support Investment Officers with sourcing and screening new investment opportunities in India; develop financial models, conduct due diligence, including financial due diligence, assessing social returns on investments, and measuring fit with GBF strategy;
- Conducts research in support of analyzing investment opportunities and assessing business risks;
- Ensures region's compliance, both reporting and financial, making sure the reporting reminders & invoices are sent to portfolio companies;
- Inputs financial & social metrics in the MIS on a quarterly basis & ensures that portfolio company records are properly reflected in MIS
- Support officers and managers on pipeline or portfolio & decision points and/or tracking portfolio client repayment rates, aggregate portfolio concentrations, client workout list, etc.
- Develops external & internal reports/ documents such as presentations, scorecards, etc.
- Performs other ad-hoc team-related tasks and provides programmatic support to the team
III. PROFILE OF SELECTED CANDIDATE
GBF is looking for candidates who are experienced, passionate about GBF's mission, and demonstrate the flexibility to work in a fast-paced start-up environment.
Specific qualifications include:
- An Indian national is preferred, although a permanent resident with authorization to work in India will be considered;
- Full professional proficiency in English required;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, specifically logic functions and other financial model related skills required;
- Experience with data tables, scenarios and circular references preferred;
- Relevant Bachelor's Degree and relevant investment/ financial modeling experience preferred;
- Experience living and/ or working in India;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues from various cultural backgrounds; great team player;
- Ability to work through multidisciplinary teams, deliver high quality work within deadlines to meet objectives;
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment;
- Good understanding of and passion for the field of social enterprise and impact investing.

- A Kenyan national is preferred, although other nationalities with the ability to obtain a valid work authorization will be considered;
- Full professional proficiency in English required;
- Relevant Bachelor's Degree and 1-3 years of relevant work experience (investment experience preferred)
- Strong financial, accounting, and excel skills, experience building financial models is a plus;
- Experience living and and/or working in Sub-Saharan Africa;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues from various cultural backgrounds; great team player;
- Ability to work through multidisciplinary teams, deliver high quality work within deadlines, to meet team objectives;
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment;

Assistant General Manager at Corredor Agro, Mozambique
Corredor Agro
Founded in 2010 by a partnership between Rift Valley Holdings and Matanuska Mauritius Limited (combined assets of over $160 million and 100 years' experience in agribusiness in Africa), Corredor Agro is an agribusiness company operating in Mozambique, aiming at adding value to the agricultural supply chain by linking small scale farmers to better inputs, credit, logistics, and markets. Corredor Agro exports sesame, maize, beans, and pulses both by sourcing from smallholder farmers and its own farms. It is located in Nampula province (northern Mozambique).
Scope of Work of the Assistant General Manager
I. Financial Management
- Overall control of the company’s accounting function and training of the accounting staff
- Financial planning and related ongoing advice to the Chief Executive and General Manager. Oversee cash flow planning.
- Coordination and management of the implementation of a Management Information System (MIS) that produces timely and relevant information to aid decision making. Part of this system relates to the contract farming program that the Company runs with small scale farmers.
- Formulating financial targets and budgets in accordance with the strategy determined by the board
- Overall control of all financial transactions and accountancy matters, including audit systems
- Corporate finance: managing company policies regarding capital requirements, debt, taxation, equity and acquisitions, as appropriate.
- Preparing monthly and annual accounts
- Ensuring that the legal and regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met regarding all the company’s financial affairs
II. Effectively acting as the deputy General Manager, and having the commercial judgement and leadership as necessary. In particular, the candidate will take on responsibility for the Northern Mozambique business of CAL, including:
- Providing the impetus for top line growth while meeting bottom line targets- hence financial and business acument is critical
- Overseeing CAL's production and export- import activities- hence exposure to International trade is a must.
- Overhead control and meeting laid down budgets.
- Generating and analyzing MIS reports to enable making strategic decisions.
- Key staff retention and fostering team spirit.
- Promoting and living CAL's values.
Qualifications and Experience
The Company seeks a mature individual, comfortable in a multi-cultural developing environment, who has a track record of managing a Profit Centre in a corporate environment. Ability to speak or learn Portuguese will be beneficial but not essential.
- Certified accountant with at least 10 years of commercial, post-qualification experience
- Track record of success in fast growing companies, ideally in the agri-business, mining or trading sectors
- Competent financial modeler, able to build and manage links from accounting packages to MIS software.
- Hands-on “management accountant” type, able to optimize cash-flows under volatile conditions
- Some experience in analyzing currency, commodity price and interest rate basis risk.
