GBF has investments in 10 countries and impacts the lives of 4.5 million people living at the base of economic pyramid.

The people impacted by GBF’s portfolio companies fall into three categories: producers, entrepreneurs, and consumers. Nearly 98% of GBF's portfolio companies operate in countries where GNI per capita is less than $1,200.

*Base of the pyramid (BoP) services are high-impact businesses that provide a service to the poor that provide costing savings through mobile banking, clean energy lighting and heating and improved job access.

These groups are impacted in the following ways:

• Producers increase their incomes by selling agricultural or artisanal products to GBF’s client enterprises, who offer increased access to markets and invest in capacity building activities for producers
• Entrepreneurs grow their businesses by accessing financial and capacity building services
• Consumers increase their savings by accessing new technologies, including solar light s and mobile bank accounts
