SELFINA

Mwasiti Hassani, 24, mobile phone accessories shop owner from Mwanza, Tanzania

Mwasiti Hassani, 24 and married with a three-year-old child, has run a mobile phone accessories shop in Mwanza, Tanzania since 2006. Because there are few landlines and mobile phones are relatively cheap, they have become prevalent in Tanzania, fueling her business. Currently, Mwasiti makes about $150 per month from her business. She is requesting a loan from SELFINA to purchase more mobile phone accessories. In the future, she plans to open another business. GBF’s investment will help SELFINA increase the scale of its services, broaden its geographic reach, and deepen its impact in poor rural communities.
